ALTERNATIVE LODGING :
For more eclectic lodging in the heart of downtown, Flagstaff has two historic hotels:
The Monte Vista Hotel: http://www.hotelmontevista.com/
The Weatherford Hotel: http:// www.weatherfordhotel.com/
(Note: The bar upstairs in the Weatherford is perhaps Flagstaff's coolest watering hole)
*For a quiet Bed & Breakfast, within walking distance of downtown, try the Aspen Inn (Mention Latin American Studies and Joe, the Inn-keeper, will give you a discount).
*Please note that you will need your own transportation to get from any of the above-listed alternative hotels to the conference site.
The Days Inn (928) 774-5221 / (800-329-7466) is within walking distance of the Radisson.
For attendees on a tight budget, Flagstaff offers a full complement of inexpensive motels.
Areas of Interest:
While we realize that your interest in RMCLAS is primarily academic, Flagstaff is located near many areas of unique touristic interest. First and foremost, Flagstaff is a 75-minute drive from the Grand Canyon. We are also 45 minutes from the red rock cliffs of Sedona. For ancient indigenous ruins, visit Walnut Canyon National Monument (7.5 miles east of Flagstaff) and/or Wupatki National Monument (33 miles from Flagstaff). Flagstaff is a short drive to the Navajo and Hopi reservations.
